Cloudchef Partners with Shanghai Electric Power and Industrial Securities: Two Cases Selected as 2022 CMP Outstanding Cases

On May 19, the 2022 Cloud Management and Cloud Network Conference, hosted by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) and the China Communications Standards Association (CCSA), was successfully held via online livestream. Under the theme “New Cloud Management, New Cloud Network,” the conference officially announced the results of its 2022 Outstanding Case Selection for cloud management and cloud network categories. Cloudchef’s joint projects with Shanghai Electric Power — the “State Grid Shanghai Cloud Operations Intelligent Management Platform” — and with Industrial Securities — the “SDDC Infrastructure Management Platform” — stood out from hundreds of submissions and were both selected as “2022 CMP Outstanding Cases.”

In recent years, cloud computing has become a critical technology foundation for the digital economy, playing a vital role in empowering industrial transformation and building robust digital ecosystems. As enterprise cloud adoption accelerates, relying solely on public cloud or private cloud can no longer meet evolving business needs. Enterprises require a multi-cloud environment to adapt to new business developments.
With the core advantages of both public and private clouds, multi-cloud and hybrid cloud have become the mainstream form of cloud computing. They enable users to unify the management of diverse IT systems and resources while meeting the management needs for edge resources driven by the rapid development of 5G and IoT, supporting the construction of distributed cloud. However, as IT resources in multi-cloud environments become increasingly large and complex, enterprise operations management pain points are becoming more pronounced. Cloud management and cloud networking, as critical capabilities for multi-cloud and hybrid environments, are entering a new phase of deep application.
Cloudchef’s cloud-native operations management platform can manage enterprises’ public cloud, dedicated cloud, private cloud, and edge cloud environments. Through a unified cloud component model, the platform abstracts any cloud resource to form the foundation for hyper-automated operations. For each cloud product on the cloud, the platform’s core capabilities include resource discovery, monitoring, operations change management, secure access, self-healing, and continuous optimization — a complete full lifecycle capability. This helps enterprises rapidly transition from traditional IT operations management to a hyper-automated, self-service, and DevOps-unified cloud-native application management architecture, truly enabling agile, elastic, and fully intelligent automation scenarios, and further driving the success of enterprise-wide digital transformation.
The Shanghai Electric Power “State Grid Shanghai Cloud Operations Intelligent Management Platform” and the Industrial Securities “SDDC Infrastructure Management Platform,” both delivered with Cloudchef’s hyper-automation platform providing a complete closed-loop solution encompassing product, architecture, and implementation, have been selected as 2022 CMP Outstanding Cases. This once again validates that choosing a high-quality product and technology platform is critical to enterprise success in industry development and implementation. Cloudchef will continue to empower enterprises for IT business innovation and efficient future growth.
Shanghai Electric Power — State Grid Shanghai Cloud Operations Intelligent Management Platform
State Grid Shanghai Electric Power Company (hereinafter referred to as “Shanghai Electric Power”) has been continuously innovating in cloud computing in recent years. It has established a multi-cloud environment based on vSphere, OpenStack, and Huawei Cloud to meet diverse business needs. However, the multi-cloud environment also brings operations management challenges: provisioning is difficult, with multiple data centers running agile and stable workloads in parallel, creating resource silos; operations are difficult, requiring multi-department participation, manual operations, slow response times, difficult fault localization, and high error rates; resource reclamation is difficult, as resources are over-provisioned and utilization is hard to track — resources go out but rarely come back. Unable to fully leverage the advantages of cloud computing, an operations management transformation was imperative.
By exploring the construction of an operations center platform and leveraging Cloudchef’s platform products and implementation services, Shanghai Electric Power built a unified cloud automation platform between its underlying heterogeneous IT infrastructure and user requirements. The platform unified the management of diverse heterogeneous infrastructure at the bottom layer and integrated with Shanghai Electric Power’s IT service management portal operations center at the top layer, enabling efficient provisioning of various IaaS resources. The platform delivers multi-dimensional advantages including operations automation, visual modeling, technology integration, open platform architecture, standardized processes, strategic deployment, and application scenarios. It advanced the improvement of Shanghai Electric Power’s service and operations systems, comprehensively enhancing application delivery agility and significantly reducing labor costs.
Industrial Securities — SDDC Infrastructure Management Platform
At the start of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan period, Industrial Securities set digitalization and intelligence as its strategic direction, pursuing deep integration of technology and business to build “Digital Intelligence Industrial Securities” and reshape the industry ecosystem through digital-intelligent finance. During the “digital-intelligent” transformation of its data centers, Industrial Securities faced the challenge of managing a large volume of heterogeneous IT infrastructure resources. Traditional management approaches relied on tools provided by individual equipment vendors, lacking unified management processes and configuration standards. As a result, infrastructure managers long struggled with five major challenges: difficult provisioning, difficult operations, difficult reclamation, difficult reporting, and difficult forecasting.
Industrial Securities partnered with Cloudchef to jointly explore the construction of an infrastructure management platform that combines traditional ITSM process management with internet-era DevOps approaches. Through the infrastructure management platform, adopting “Infrastructure as Code” technology, the platform manages a large volume of heterogeneous IT infrastructure resources. With “hyper-automation” management and service capabilities, it solves the “last mile” challenge of IT infrastructure resource provisioning, achieving software-defined data centers and improving the usability, agility, and elasticity of the infrastructure architecture. This supports Industrial Securities’ digital-intelligent transformation in building its new data center and accelerates its digitalization journey.
The selection of Cloudchef’s two customer cases in the power and financial industries as CMP Outstanding Cases fully demonstrates the industry’s high recognition of Cloudchef’s product technology capabilities and service quality. This also marks another year that Cloudchef has received the annual CMP Outstanding Case honor, following previous selections for the “China Merchants Securities Cloud Service Platform” and the “China University of Geosciences Campus Cloud — Cloud Geosciences Platform.”
As a leading enterprise in the cloud-native operations management space, Cloudchef’s advanced cloud-native integrated management philosophy and outstanding product implementation capabilities have been validated through the practice of thousands of enterprises across industries including finance, government, healthcare, internet, and manufacturing. Going forward, Cloudchef will continue to deepen its focus on cloud-native, meticulously refine its products, expand into more application scenarios, and drive the deep adoption of cloud-native technologies across domestic industries — empowering enterprises with efficient operations management and advancing their digital transformation journeys.
