Cloudchef Debuts at 2021 WAIC: AIOps Empowering Enterprise Cloud-Native Transformation

Published: 2021-07-09

On July 7, the 2021 WAIC (World Artificial Intelligence Conference) "Cloud-Native in the AI Era" forum and the "Journey to Cloud-Native" series of events grandly opened at the Chuangzhi Convention Hall in Yangpu District, Shanghai. The forum attracted over 300 attendees including government officials, technology experts, and business leaders from both domestic and international organizations focused on artificial intelligence and cloud-native technologies. Fang Li, founder and CEO of Cloudchef, was invited to attend the forum and delivered a keynote speech titled "AIOps in the Cloud-Native Era."

AI Empowering Cloud-Native: Achieving Transformative IT Change

IT transformation has been ongoing since the birth of computing. The computer industry has seen major breakthroughs roughly every decade — from mainframes to minicomputers, to x86 physical machines, to virtualization. Each revolution has given rise to entirely new IT management leaders. Now, IT infrastructure has entered a brand-new era — the cloud-native era.

What is cloud-native? This forum offered a vivid explanation: cloud-native refers to a collection of cloud computing technologies and development management methodologies — a "tropical rainforest" formed by the convergence of upstream and downstream cloud technology providers, with powerful application scenarios.

Fang Li, founder and CEO of Cloudchef, believes that the cloud-native era will be a revolutionary one — an era that bids farewell to traditional computing, networking, storage, and even operating systems. Cloud-native services and containers will transform the entire IT infrastructure. As digital transformation progresses and labor costs continue to rise, IT management — which was previously undervalued — is becoming increasingly critical. Therefore, cloud-native trends will disrupt the entire IT management industry, and the Chinese market will see a transformative leap in cloud-native resource management.

AIOps: Building Highly Automated Cloud-Native Service Management

Gartner research shows that IT operations personnel (IT Ops) have undergone significant changes in recent years. This shift is driven by enterprise IT operations teams recognizing that traditional IT management technologies and methods can no longer keep pace with digital business transformation. AIOps refers to multi-layer technology platforms that leverage analytics and machine learning to analyze big data collected from various IT operations tools and devices, automatically identifying and responding to issues in real time, thereby achieving IT operations automation and enhancement.

In fact, the core of IT management encompasses three pillars: IT Service Management (ITSM), IT Operations Management (ITOM), and IT Business Management and cost control (ITBM). The cloud-native management system requires powerful AI analytical capabilities to support it. Fang Li stated that Cloudchef aims to build an AI-driven continuously optimized management closed loop, enabling highly automated and self-service capabilities across deployment, operations, monitoring, and analysis — building complete lifecycle management capabilities for cloud-native services.

However, building such an intelligent cloud-native management platform is an extremely challenging undertaking. Cloudchef's unified cloud-native management platform integrates hundreds of cloud-native services across multiple public clouds, private clouds, and containers, while providing powerful management, analysis, and self-service capabilities to help enterprises build AI-driven dual-mode IT capabilities.

The platform encapsulates powerful service orchestration capabilities into simple, easy-to-use service cards for self-service and DevOps workflows, enabling end-to-end one-click deployment of complex cloud-native environments. For deployed cloud-native resources, the platform provides unified operations and maintenance based on AI analysis, along with capabilities such as automatic fault remediation, greatly improving operational efficiency in the multi-cloud and cloud-native era.

At the forum, the Yangtze River Delta Cloud-Native Industry Alliance was simultaneously established. As a leading enterprise in the cloud-native technology field, Cloudchef was honored to become one of the first founding members of the alliance. Other members include cloud-native enterprises such as VMware, eBaoTech, UCloud, Sunmi, DaoCloud, and Matrix Origin; end-user enterprises focused on digital transformation including Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, Yangpu Sci-Tech Innovation Group, and Suzano (Brazil's largest pulp company); as well as professional investment institutions such as J接力 Fund and Yunqi Capital. Going forward, cloud-native collaborative innovation will extend beyond Shanghai to the broader Yangtze River Delta region.

Currently, as Shanghai's digital transformation demonstration zone, Yangpu District has incorporated cloud-native-empowered industrial digital transformation into its key "One District, One Feature" initiative. It has released the "Action Plan for Building Shanghai's Digital Transformation Demonstration Zone and Comprehensively Promoting Yangpu District's Urban Digital Transformation (2021-2023)," leveraging existing industrial cluster advantages and seizing the historic opportunity of Shanghai's comprehensive digital transformation as a mega-city to build a nationally leading cloud-native industry hub. Cloudchef will continue to work with partners across all industries to jointly build and improve the cloud-native industry chain ecosystem, continuously leading enterprise digital transformation in the cloud-native era.
